In 2022, I applied for my first passport at the Thakurgaon Sadar Regional Passport Office. Although I submitted all required documents correctly, the passport officer rejected my first application because my e-challan had “Md” without a dot, following the bank officer’s advice. I reapplied with “Md.”, only to be questioned again by the same officer about the dot. I later discovered that the officer was reportedly refusing applicants who had not applied through a nearby photocopy shop, where applicants were required to pay extra cash. I was ultimately forced to pay the amount to have my application accepted.
