I applied online for a Police Clearance Certificate and paid the official ৳1,500 fee. About a week later, someone claiming to be from Patiya Police Station called and asked me to visit the station. I went there with all the documents listed on the official website. He said that a Chairman Certificate was mandatory, although it was not mentioned on the website. After some discussion, he agreed to process my clearance. He then demanded ৳1,000, claiming it was his “fixed rate.” He charged the same amount to everyone who was present there for police clearance at that time. As I urgently needed the certificate, I paid the money.

paid the NID name correction bribery for my mother-in-law's NID due to urgent passport renewal. The officer initially demanded 12000 BDT, then after realizing urgency he demanded 3000 BDT more and threatened by saying "if you even go official or unofficial procedure in any other way, it will go through me and I will see how it can be approved." eventually forced to pay in total of 15000 BDT and corrected the NID just within 1 hour after that.
