The meter reader's assistant came and told me my water meter is faulty and he wants 40000, he will puss some air in the meters reading system which may 'correct' the meter. In reality, it was a damn good meter. so he gave me a weeks ultimatum after i negotitated for some time.Then he came again and harrased me tons and tried to agitate me saying he will see how i can walk on road without paying him and shit like that.i did not replace the meter or paid him he kept putting the same unit reading for each month without actually taking the reading from the meter. Its 7100 taka each month. never any less or more than that. He didn't provide me the physical copy of the water bill at my holding.

Land tax

বিগত বছরের খাজনা বকেয়া ছিল ২০ টাকা কিন্তু সেটা অনলাইনে পেমেন্ট করার সিস্টেম থাকলেও ইউনিয়ন ভূমি অফিসের এপ্রুভাল না পাওয়ায় ক্লিয়ার করা যাচ্ছিলো না। এই ক্লিয়ারেন্স পেতে তারা ২০০০০/- দাবি করে। এই ঘটনা প্রত্যেকের সাথে ঘটছে যারা বকেয়া খাজনা পরিশোধ করতে যাচ্ছেন। ঘটনাটি ঘটেছে নওগাঁ জেলার ধামইরহাট উপজেলার আগ্রাদ্বিগুন ইউনিয়ন ভূমি অফিসে। আমি একজনের কাছে জমি কিনেছি ২৫ শতাংশ। এবং বিক্রেতা যখন খাজনা পরিশোধ করতে যায় তখন এই সমস্যার সম্মুখীন হন। শেষ পর্যন্ত তারা বিক্রেতার কাছে ১৫০০০/- আদায় করে এবং পরে কর আদায়ের রশিদে দেখা যায় বকেয়া খাজনা ছিল মাত্র ২০/-

Flat Mutation

উত্তরাধিকারসূত্রে পাওয়া একটি ফ্ল্যাট নামজারি করতে যেখানে সরকারি খাতাকলমে ১,১৭০৳ (ভ্যাটসহ) প্রয়োজন। একজন পরিচিত দলিল লিখকের মাধ্যমে তা করানোর চেষ্টা করি কারণ তখন এই ব্যাপারে কিছুই জানতাম না। সেই লোক পরিচিত হওয়াতে প্রথমে দাবি করে যে ৪০ হাজারে কাজ হয়ে যাবে, তারপর আ*মিলীগ সরকার পতনের পর হঠাৎ ফোন দিয়ে বলে খতিয়ানে নাকি জায়গা নাই, কিছু খরচ করে সেখানে আমার জায়গা নাকি ঢুকিয়ে দিতে হবে। শেষে বাধ্য হয়ে ৪০ হাজারের বদলে ৬০ হাজার টাকায় রফাদফা হয়। ফাইনাল পেমেন্টের দিন পরিচিত হওয়ায় ৪৫০০ হাজার টাকা কম দেয়া গেছে। পরে ভূমি অফিসে খাজনা দিতে গেলে খাজনা পেমেন্ট করে দিবে বলে ২,২৪০৳ (অনেকবছরেরটা একসাথে) এর খাজনা ৩,০০০৳ দিয়ে দেওয়া হয়েছে কারণ বাকিটা সেই ভূমি অফিসের সহকারীর বকশিস। একপ্রকার অসহায় হয়েই দেয়া লাগছে।

Official cost is 5650 BDT, they demanded 11,300 BDT total, promised the test will be pased without challenge, and i cant pass if i go through regular challenge.

EPI vaccination centre

In Pahartali, Chattogram, EPI vaccines for children are provided at the Chairman’s Office. The EPI card clearly states that both the vaccines and vaccination card are completely free. However, they are charging 100 taka just to make the card, sometimes even more based on the family’s financial status. They also demand an additional 20, 50, or 100 taka during each vaccination visit. When I protested, they said, “We don’t charge this in villages, but here you have to pay.” I refused to pay and left. This is a serious issue that should be investigated. If EPI services are officially free, people should not be forced to pay unofficial fees. I also have video evidence of the incident.

Passport Re-Issue

I paid the govt fees online while submitting my application and got a date for my fingerprint and other stuff. On that date, I forgot to take a copy of the utility bill as proof of my present address. They told me to come with it, otherwise the process wouldn't proceed. I respected their rules and came out, then sat at a tea stall nearby. The shopkeeper asked about the situation. When I told him, he asked for 3000 taka. I refused, so he offered to do everything without documents for 2000. I refused again, took a rickshaw home, got the electricity bill, and returned. Paid the rickshaw puller 40 taka, completed everything, and saved 3000 taka for a 40 taka ride and a few more hours of queuing.

Back in 2021, I went to dhaka board for my name correction. However, I refused and eventually without paying I got the correction.

Certificate correction

Officer asked me money for correcting my name and parents name on JSC, SSC, HSC certificate. He said it will be faster if I give hom money otherwise the file will be on backlock for months. At the end out of fear I gave him money and it worked out.

Driving License

Normally, even after paying the standard fee required to obtain a driving licence, they told me directly that they would not allow me to pass the driving test. They explicitly stated that if I paid BDT 12,500, they would arrange the driving licence without requiring me to take any kind of test. They also said that if I refused to pay the money, they would not allow me to obtain a driving licence under any circumstances. This was stated directly by the officials at the BRTA Shariatpur office.

I have a standing mortgage with a reputed bank for which i mortgaged my ancestral lands. Now i am going to end the mortgage and end the loan. But to execute the mortgage the sub-regiatrar is asking for bdt seven lacs. I still am deciding whether i shall pay the bribe or not.

Bill collection from Bangladesh Power Development Board.

I went Bpfor my comapanies payment collection. Account department asked for 2% of the total bill with TDS and VDS. They will not give payment unless their demand is met. They said it is the standard here.

Monthly ghus we have to pay to VAT office (various officers) in order to sign the vat Chalan. When one office is transferred, he lists down all registered company names along with the ghush amount so that the next office can continue the collection. It's a norm in all VAT offic across Bangladesh.

DCR

I went to the land office last month to collect the DCR, the government fee of which is only 1100 taka, but the person there demanded 70 thousand taka from me. Besides, he would not do this work. Later, we were forced to negotiate with him and convince him to pay 50 thousand taka. After 15-20 days, he gave us the DCR copy.
